Because T$ are available for much cheaper for starters.

Aequitas58 04-27-05 04:48 PM

You realize that you're selling T$ at roughly 98%? One can easily - and I do mean easily - get T$ at 85-86%.

ChipFish 04-27-05 04:53 PM

Did I not just say that?
You must still be groggy from my "special" brownies.

Aequitas58 04-27-05 05:36 PM

But I gave percentages, sissy.

ChipFish 04-27-05 06:20 PM

I was a math major in undergrad. I'm still confused today as to how I took such a different path...

Talking Poker 04-27-05 07:48 PM

Lawyers make a lot more money than math teachers. From what I know of you, you're out to get your hand on every nickel you can, so it seems like a pretty clear choice to me.

Aequitas58 04-27-05 08:41 PM

I am out to get my hand on every nickel I can. But for reasons you aren't aware of. You know me in a very limited capacity, Mark.

And you seriously can't say that you aren't out for every nickel ... because YES, you are. C'mon - you're running an affiliate website. It's a smart business decision to offer bonus and "extras" to your forum members because, in time, the sign-ups will pay you back nicely. I've been looking into my rake via PokerTracker, and honestly - all you need are a few "serious" player signups and you'll start making handsome money. Imagine if you had me, Shabi, Geoff, and Chip via rakeback commission? LOL.

Nothing to LIVE on - yet - but a nice side job.

Anyway, being a math major, law school wasn't even a thought for me. I was talking with a professor about career choices, and he suggested law school. We talked about it, I looked into it, took the LSAT, applied, got accepted, and now here I am three years later.

Am I happy about my choice? Yes and No. I would certainly talk about it, but I don't feel like anyone wants to hear it - so, I'll save it. ;)

For what it's worth... money is important to me, but it's not the MOST important thing to me by any means. When I put a bounty on my head in a tourney we have here, for example, that's not money I'm ever going to get back. Doing that isn't going to get significantly more people to use my affiliate links, etc. It's just fun.

If I end up making some money off this site in the long run, great. But that's not why I started it. I started it because I wanted to creat a great poker forum that was run properly. So far, so good.... now we just need more regulars.

As for money being the most important thing.... someday you'll realize it's not. To me, my freedom is priceless. And I don't mean "Go USA!" freedom - I mean not having a boss to report to. I put my time in. I did all that and made good money in the process. But eventually, I realized I was MUCH happier making less money but reporting to myself only. I work on what I want, when I want, etc. I have a more flexible schedule than anyone I know. To me, that's worth a lot of nickels.

You 2 should just kiss and make up LMAO.

Lou, I too am a math genius, economics major. ;)

ChipFish 04-28-05 03:47 PM

Yeah Kiss and make up.

Or better yet... TP, give Lou a reach-around.... He REALLY appreciates those.
