Hello and welcome. TP is a great place. The crossover between the two sites is awesome. I went to the other forum because of a bunch of people here.

welcome to the forum man. Care to give us a bit of your poker background?

TurnRiva 08-18-08 11:15 PM

Sure. I've known of and played poker for about 10 years - originally just as a friendly muck around game of 5card draw with family.. About 5 years ago I learnt of NLHE and was playing with mates for a few months, until I started playing limit 5/10 at my local.. I went on a huge rush and won thousands per week (it was redic soft - I remember one hand where I had A6o and the flop was AAA - and the betting was capped every street to the river with like 4 runners without me even raising ONCE until the river where I capped..)

Eventually I moved to 10/20 and ran great.. Then moved to a half pot 5/10 game with no capped buy-in.. At this point I was working a 9 - 5 in commerial sales training, then after work play til 12 or later then off to work and then a lot of weekend in there to.. It was the sickest game ever, I was averaging over $100/hr and slowly made the decision after being fucked around at work about going overseas to run a callcentre that I would play for a living, and have been doing so ever since.. Now over two years infact almost 3 now.. About 8 months ago I decided to seriously challenge myself to making my online MTT game great as the half pot game was replaced by FP and NLHE and it wasnt as profitable and I was getting a little bored of the grind.. I joint PTP soon after and have been an avid member there since then and feel it is a real asset to my career..

Recently I have won a decent amount of PLO8 tournies (I am now a mixed game player - tend to think NLHE is a bit of a crapshoot) Have won a live HORSE tourney at Crown Casino for Melbourne Poker Champs, several deep runs live in stacked fields, and most recently a heart breaking 7th in the Sunday HORSE on PS this weekend gone..

So these days I split my time between online MTTs backed on PTP and live cash games to keep myself alive and my BR moving steadily up..

That's a bit about me.. In the future - I am going to be coached by one of the best PLO/8 and 6max NLHE players on the net - Nsinger

Am planning on making it to WSOP next year - ship da bracelet!

And basically become a MTT balla and simply have cash games as a sidenote of my career!

A little about me complete :)

Nice intro, and once again, welcome.

Keep an eye out for sjay2k... not only is he one of the best poker players I've ever met - you know, one of those guys with God given ability - but he's also from Oz.

TurnRiva 08-19-08 01:19 AM

Awesome, is sjay2k his screen-name? I'll tlb search him..

Talking Poker 08-19-08 01:25 PM

He's had multiple online names, and he's a cash game stud, not a donkament guy. You'll find that most of the huge ballas here (and IMO, everywhere else too) are cash game guys.

gl with the wsop next year, but plo8 seems like even more torture than mtts to me.

TurnRiva 08-19-08 05:26 PM

Meh cash is def hard online, but I find it super easy live.. I think MTT's are a much bigger challange to actually become seriously consistant, it removes all room for error..

I love PLO8, I just dont think everyone really understand the intricacies of it, which is what makes it even better..
