WSOP entry in exchange for 120k hands

You guys see this one?

TruePoker will buy this guy an entry into the WSOP if he can clear 120k hands before 6/30. He has a full-time job, which makes it very difficult. Interesting promotion though, and I'll be curious if he makes it.

omahilo 05-06-05 05:43 PM

I was reading that earlier... I think its interesting to say the least.

I think someone who plays alot could def. do it.

BlibbityBlabbity 05-06-05 05:51 PM

Does his full time job pay $5000+ a month? If not take two months off (or 1/2 time or something). Poker is the most important thing in life, right? ;)

Thats approx. 44 hours a week (his guess with 8 tables open). Wow

omahilo 05-06-05 05:56 PM

if he has a friend or someone he trusts he could always have them play some hands for him on his account then split the WSOP winnings with him (if he cashs) and/or give him half of what he wins when he plays at truepoker.

BlibbityBlabbity 05-06-05 05:59 PM

Now THERE is some smart thinking!!!! SHHHHH..... :)

Aequitas58 05-06-05 06:05 PM

I'm sure they log his IP address.

Talking Poker 05-06-05 06:12 PM

I'm sure the person he trusts could use his computer.

I haven't read the article yet, but if he's allowed to play any stakes, fire up 8 of the cheapest tables they have, and fold everything but AA, KK, QQ, and AKs. You could teach an semi-intelligent monkey to do that.

BlibbityBlabbity 05-06-05 06:14 PM

An intelligent money could even play JJ and 10 10 :D

omahilo 05-06-05 06:15 PM

I dont think truepoker will care who plays the hands because...

1. He figured that they will make about 8K in rake from this.

2. if he does well at WSOP or even gets TV time will get truepoker coverage.

3. More people will try this and will fail to get the hands. example: Lets say I try it and only get 100K hands... I get nothing and truepoker gets like 4K.

Just a few reasons.

omahilo 05-06-05 06:18 PM

Very good point, forgot to mention that.

omahilo 05-09-05 11:52 AM

He is posting updates on 2+2... this should be interesting.

BlibbityBlabbity 05-09-05 12:13 PM

8 games at once, various limits, NL AND limit

Can't even imagine it

junYUN 05-09-05 04:18 PM

theres NO WAY i could 8 table different limits and come out on top.

Another thought

I wonder if this guy would be better off playing 120k hands on the Party BB tables. Even if he can 8 table (which I couldn't do to save my life) there's no gaurantee he would hit it, but his odds would be better than mine.

2Tone 06-06-05 07:29 PM

He's going to make it!

This is incredible. I'm tired after having grinded through 700 raked hands in three days to clear the latest Party bonus. To play this number of hands this quickly and still come out ahead is quite an accomplishment.

Hope he enjoys the WSOP. He’s earned it.

Talking Poker 06-06-05 08:35 PM

That is awesome. Props to him for coming up with the idea, selling it, and now making it happen.

The $500 he's won is just bonus money. It's the $10k he's about to be handed that's going to make this all worthwhile. I'm going to look for this guy at the WSOP and say hello...

junYUN 06-06-05 10:27 PM

insane...

O Doyle Rules 06-10-05 11:33 AM

Hi Everyone.

I was contacted by the Talking Poker guy that you all were following my progress at twoplustwo. I appreciate the interest and have been surprised by all the attention this has been receiving.

I thought I would just post to say hi and thanks. Naturally, I will still be doing my full updates at twoplustwo, but if you all have any questions of me, I will attempt to respond to them.

One point that came up in this thread I would like to clear up. I have played every single one of these hands at TruePoker. I never considered what was suggested here. (Allowing someone else to play for me)

I'm an "old school" type of guy and I would have definitely felt that I would not have been living up to my end of the bargain if I had allowed someone to play for me.

Once again, thanks and I appreciate the interest!

Talking Poker 06-10-05 11:53 AM

Hey O Doyle Rules-

Welcome to the site and good luck at the Main Event!

P.S. Nice "location" - ha!

junYUN 06-10-05 06:17 PM

i probably wouldn't want anyone else to play for me either... A) because i trust myself better than anyone i know poker-wise, B) any good poker player i wanted to play for me would be taking my profits :D

O Doyle Rules 06-15-05 01:28 AM

Hi All,

Just thought you all might want to know it appears I will be hitting that magical 120k Hand tomorrow night. I am doing a "countdown" post at two plus two.

Once again thanks for the interest and support!

junYUN 06-15-05 01:35 AM

BrianSwa 06-15-05 01:42 AM
