Favortie WPT event so far

Mine has to be the 2003 WPT Championship won by Alan Georigh? This episode featured Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, and a Russian player by the name of Killian or something. Him and Alan played heads up for over a 1/2 hour. The Russian went all-in three times with absolute garbage, but was caught on the third time when Alan had slowplayed trip queens on the flop and filled up on the turn. It took him an amazingly long time as he slowplayed the Russian after he had bit the bait. After double checking his hole cards after the all-in, Alan calmly called. The only hand that had him beat was four fives!!! Was he trying to get inside the Russians head as if him doubling up wasn't enough? The season pro eventually grinded the young Russian down to take home the first ever WPT championship.

that was a pretty good episode. the russian was kirill gerasimov.

i'm not sure what my favorite episode is. the only one that i havent seen that i am particularly interested in is the bay 101 with phil gordon and moneymaker. not that moneymaker is the best player around, but i would be interested in seeing how he played in that final table.

i think the brogata with carlos mortensen and david oppenheim might be my favorite. especially because the end of it turned it to such a joke, with shoten and francisco trading string bets, calls before the bet size was announced, etc. just ridiculousness.

my favorite is the one at foxwoods that lederer won... also the bellagio one where gus hansen won was really good

i dont even know if these are from this year or last year... not having cable is a bust :(

The one where the unibomber won, very funny to watch him carry on like he was on speed.

That was a nutty one with the unabomber. Cant wait for the one with Moneymaker also, but it may be tough for me as I'll be at the north pole (Minnesota), for Christmas.

I don't remember which event it was, but it had Howard Lederer and Phil Ivey in it. Watch Ivey play is simply amazing. That one hand he had Q6 and raised preflop, a guy behind him had AQ. it flopped something like A6x, phil bet, the player with AQ raised, then Phil acted back all in and got the other guy to lay down that hand. That was some amazing poker

Hmmm I don't remember that one windbreaker, do you know which casino it was in?

Hard to say which one is my fav... There're a lot I like equally. I'll have to think about which one I like the most...

Cheers,

Gutzz

I liked the one at the Aviation Club in Paris where David Benjamin and the guy fom Greece played. That was one of the first WPT events I saw and I think the widde variety of styles/personalities at the table made it very interesting to watch.

Also the Borgata Poker Open with Noli Francisco. That is just because he is a retired Architect at a WPT final table, which gives me hope :D .

I also think this way when I see Ted Lawson play PLO and win a bracelet during the WSOP.

I watched it last night, and I didn't think he played that well... Then again I never think that they show enough on those shows to really tell us whats going on

Tuff Luck 12-24-04 02:56 PM

Well he made the right call pushing with JJ, but Phil hit aces so meh.

TajaUk 12-24-04 04:49 PM

Ahh I forgot that event in Paris at the aviator club (spell). The one Surinder won over Tony G the most horrid player in the world. Tony G managed to piss off the whole club with his shit talking and constant attacks on players. Lederer was so pissed when he knocked him out. Its the closest thing i have seen to the whole final table colluding to knock someone out.

Windbreaker 12-24-04 05:43 PM

This was at Foxwoods in the first season. Ivey played that hand against Peter Giordano. Howard Lederer eventually went on to win.
