lol at anyone whose made more than 3k from 5 dollar games and doesnt move up. Enjoy your star tho i guess?

Talking Poker 09-06-08 01:08 PM

Prob bet on how long it takes?

And while the Star is cool, I agree with Mayhem and would think it would be way more +$EV to move up to $11 games or whatever the next level is.

GL.

I disagree.

although I do play $11's and $20's I dont feel the need to move up totally and forget about $4's. I mean obviously I have a huge edge in these games and moving up I lose some of that edge. Although I might still be better then those players I know im a hell of a lot better then the $4's so why totally eliminate the game where I have a huge edge. I run a 180s heeb every month and its outlined as playing all 180's, and to tell you the truth I usually make more from the $4's then any of the other buy in levels. I will play at least 500 $4 180s every year and im fine with that.

Why do you think some cash game players that are bankrolled for 2/4nl still play 1/2? its because they feel they can make more at the lower limits with their edge then they will at higher limits.

having an edge at 4 dollar tournaments = being able to breath through your nose.

stormswa 09-06-08 01:30 PM

lol, good point. :)

I do play all the levels though, for instance right now im signed up for 2 $4's, 1 $11 and 1 $22. The $22 will take about a hour or so to fill up, the $11 about 30 minutes and the $4 every 5 minutes. That is another reason I like the $4s.

You make good points, Brian. But Mayhem wins this thread:

GL getting your Star. And GL to your mystery student, whoever he/she may be!

agreed.

I would say that this is really just not correct. I think the edge of making more drops right off at 10/20 because hardly any games run above that. 1/2 is a little softer than 2/4, but by no means 2* as soft, and even if it were 2* as soft sometimes it is better to play in harder games so that you can keep moving up the ladder in the pay scale by improving your play.

Staying at a $4 buyin level is just costing yourself money, plain and simple.

stormswa 09-06-08 11:08 PM

good points wes, soon as I get my damn star I will.

stormswa 09-09-08 05:58 PM

I took on a stake to run $3-$5 45's to help get this star little faster im about $700 away now......

nice,

get in paint and turn him silver!

stormswa 09-10-08 05:07 PM

k gained another $100 or so on this today by getting two 3rd in 45man's. :)

AceEleven 09-11-08 12:13 AM

Gl Storm - This is def. achievable!

stormswa 09-11-08 12:15 AM

adding in the 45 mans really helped a lot, I wish the $11s counted took two thirds in those today for bap. I really want it done by this week, I want to get up to about 4k total so I know I will stay on the leaderboard.

nikbritain 09-11-08 12:33 AM

nothing wrong with making $4k playing low limit imo
