Good Marketing Ploy
Easy way to get some mainstream media attention.
|
that is some pretty good marketing. unfortunately, the lack of outrage in the us about no nhl season seems to indicate that pokerroom wont get too much of a bump from it.
|
what if they dont play poker/???
Each side hires a top pro to play for them? Who would you pick? Can't imagine anyone ever saying, welll....I don't really know how to play but I guess I'll put a few billion dollars on this one poker tournament, why not. :D |
negreanu has to be on one side of the table, just because he is canadian and because he wears hockey jerseys a good amount of the time at the table.
i have absolutely no idea who takes the other side. maybe phil ivey, who they could call the jarome iginla of poker for this match. |
What the hell - why not
It is a great piece of marketing, especially since the Press Release got picked up by the media.
And actually, they should do it, or a coin toss, or something. You figure the game is likely +EV for everyone, just to get it resolved. How much money is being lost by both sides by the season not happening? |
Haha. Something like that wold never be settled over poker. Funny though.
|
This is good marketing, yes, but personally, I preferred when they had topless women painted to look like a deck of cards running around just before the WSOP. Now that's good stuff.
|
yeah, i think that spray painted boobs are probably a bit more eye-catching than their offer to settle the nhl problems. im not sure that either one of these promotions did much for them, but i guess they cant hurt at all.

Headline:
"Billions of dollars lost in one hand as AA is beat by 72os  ." |
This is true. I am no hermit and I honestly didn't even know about the situation until recently. The media in the US has just started making the NHL thing huge story. |
