$5200 WCOOP HORSE Event

Wow. Talk about a who's who of the online poker world. Fischmann, Brenes, Mercier, Raymer, Moneymaker, and more. This should be a great tourney to rail.

Go Isabelle!

hiimbob12 09-30-06 04:22 PM

I'll be playing this event. I mustered up enough to play in it.

5200 play chips right?

Tony Cheval 09-30-06 04:22 PM

Don't you mean Go JD? :D

Robbie Robb 09-30-06 04:28 PM

Well, if JD were playing in it, then HELL YA! I'd be rooting for him. But since he's only playing in tomorrows $2600 ME (hopefully!), I can root for him tomorrow.

Talking Poker 09-30-06 04:55 PM

I wonder why they even bother to "guarantee" money for these things. I mean, $100k guaranteed for a $5000 event? Were they really expecting less than 20 players???

With 175 players registered, the prize pool is $875,000. If they had guaranteed $1 million, I'll bet there still wouldn't have been an overlay, and even if there was, SO WHAT? They can afford it.

Glancing through the field now - that is one sick list. That hs to be the highest % of pros I've ever seen in an online tourney.

Talking Poker 09-30-06 05:13 PM

The best thing about this tourney is the complete lack of Observer Chat.

Robbie Robb 09-30-06 05:15 PM

Agreed. By guaranteeing the $1M instead of $100K there probably would have been a lot more entrants.

Table 3 or something like that was just sick. I recognized 4 of the 8 players as being well respected players in the online/B&M realms.

I see you're railing as well. I would wish them luck if I could...

Talking Poker 09-30-06 05:54 PM

I just stopped by and sai GL to a few people. I'll rail tonight when it's more interesting (Final Table, for sure). It's way too early right now. The standings have hardly even changed, and I don't think anyone is even remotely close to busting... The chip leader has only added about 25% to his stack.

eejit101 09-30-06 06:31 PM

lol, good way to brag about having $5,200 i guess to us low lifers, well me.

Any got any tips for whose gonna win this? Ive never heard of isabelle being any good at Stud in the past...

Id stik a $10 spot on Fishmann as an outside shot

Talking Poker 09-30-06 08:13 PM

I wasn't bragging. Rob brought it up and I explained.

eejit101 09-30-06 08:14 PM

i know, and i was kidding. Still everyone left in nearly, that thing is gonna be long

Talking Poker 09-30-06 08:37 PM

That's limit poker for ya.

I see Dags is currently in second.

jillaj 09-30-06 09:23 PM

I was just thinking this will still be going on in the morning. I was gonna stay up to catch the final table but might just wake up early and catch it instead.

juiCe[3x] 09-30-06 10:52 PM

Mike Matasow owning it up with more than 40k.

Talking Poker 09-30-06 11:40 PM

He's over 55k now. Rizen has 70, chip leader is at 72.

Lots of players are finally out - Raymer, Gavin Smith, Fischman, Bartley, Chen, Ramdin, Hachem, Moneymaker, Brenes, McEvoy, Negreanu (I think that's him), and loads of big name online pros.... We're down to just 63 left. Isabelle is still in.

Robbr25 09-30-06 11:48 PM

What is Matasow's screen name ?

juiCe[3x] 10-01-06 12:04 AM

He just got moved to Barry G's table!!

in 10th position

ps. what was/is DN's screenname on Stars?

Robbr25 10-01-06 12:06 AM

Thx

juiCe[3x] 10-01-06 12:20 AM

I hope Matasaw wins, It woudl be funny.

drewjax 10-01-06 01:57 AM

Sam Grizzle was chip leader (or near) for most of tourney.
But now Hold_emNL (whoever that is) is trying to run away with this. He is at 450K, 2nd is at 135K!!

Wow! That was an interesting 5 minutes. Matusow busted in 20th, Sam Grizzle crippled down to 20K, and Stelladora over 300K to at least put someone within shouting distance of chip leader.

Talking Poker 10-01-06 02:15 AM

Barry G used to be "crazyplayer" - Does he have a new name?

I'm pretty sure Daniel is slimshaggy... At least that sounds really familiar to me from the Bahamas last year when we were in that Heads Up Battleship thing together.

With big blinds, this thing is moving fast now - down to 14 players, and I expect the Final Table will be set in another 15 or 20 minutes or so. Isabelle is still alive.

Robbr25 10-01-06 02:19 AM

barryg1 I think.
From what people at the table were saying.

Talking Poker 10-01-06 02:38 AM

Down to 10 now...

I clicked on the radio feed - no idea what it's from though... sounds like it's very delayed.

Talking Poker 10-01-06 02:42 AM

OK, I don't even know what the hell they are talking about, but it's not THIS tourney.

Ah!!!!!!!!! Duh - it's the Limit tourney that is down to the Final Table. Don't mind me.

I see Gavin Smith is at the Final Table.

Robbr25 10-01-06 02:45 AM

Sounds ok and up to the min to me ?

Robbr25 10-01-06 02:46 AM

Agree I don't know what side topic they are talking about.
They should probably actually talk about the game :)

Talking Poker 10-01-06 03:00 AM

Robbie Robb sure is gonna be pissed when he wakes up and sees what he missed tonight.

Down to 7 now - Isabelle is currently the short stack, but it's a very healthy short stack.

Robbie Robb 10-01-06 08:02 AM

Daniel's name during the battleship was slimsomething but I don't think it was slimshaggy. I know he's up here in Toronto this weekend for some type of Fantasy Hockey League draft. I've done a baseball draft and these things usually take hours to do. My guess is he was busy with that and not playing in the WCOOP. Damn, I wish I can remember what he used in Bahamas.

I just checked over on the Daniel-is-a-god Full Contact forums and there was no mention of him playing in the thread they had going over there, so I'm gonna just go ahead and pull out the jump to conclusions mat and say that slimshaggy is not D.N.

BrianSwa 10-01-06 08:06 AM

video feed

yea its delayed, they said the other night that if you take off your buffer then you will get a direct feed with no delay, im not sure how to do this if you know please tell.

Robbie Robb 10-01-06 08:15 AM

I'm just happy that Isabelle represented! Good for her! There were a TON of big names from both the B&M world and online world. She did well!

Talking Poker 10-01-06 11:59 AM

Chad Brown takes it down! IMO, he's one of the most underrated poker pros out there.

I was almost SURE that was Daniel's screen name, but after doing some research, that's not him. I even found the old Bahamas thread where I said it was "slim something," but I'll be damned if I can find the whole name anywhere now.

Quint 10-01-06 03:07 PM

I was railing/listening to the Friday night radio feed with Lee and Wil Wheaton. Lee mentioned several times that they would not be talking strategy as several of the players still in the event were obviously listening as well (correcting name pronunciations, etc.) and they didn't want to influence the action.

Penguinfan 10-03-06 06:02 PM

Not sure why I even opened this thread several days after the fact, but I thought Daniels name on Stars was "DoubleSuited" Did they let him change it?

I thought that was one of the seven deadly sins on Stars.

Talking Poker 10-03-06 06:05 PM

That was many moons ago. I don't know the story behind it - I just know he was playing under a different name last January.
