TalkingPoker.com Heads-Up Battle Royale

I think it will be a lot of fun to follow the league finale up with a take no prisoners, no-holds barred, heads-up battle royale!!!!!

Tourney: TalkingPoker Heads-Up Battle Royale (Tourney ID: 19851688)

Date/Time: Thursday, February 23, 9:30 PM

Buy-in: $10+1

Password: ShabiBaby

Everyone from the forum, new and old, is invited to take part in the tourney. This is not a league event. Good luck everybody. 2nd place is up for grabs!

Zybomb 02-16-06 06:51 PM

Shabi, it's not a DEFINATE that Im takin 1st yet, so technically 1st is up for grabs too.... as far as the liklihood.... that's another story

:D

redbank09 02-16-06 07:00 PM

fliipin sweet shabi. exactly what i had in mind.

Robbie Robb 02-16-06 07:41 PM

I think Shabi's referring to 2nd being up for grabs in this heads-up challenge. Apparently he's already conceded the win to me and figures the rest of you will fight it out for 2nd.

Talking Poker 02-16-06 09:15 PM

Are you guys all drunk or something? Obviously he knows I'll be taking this thing down.

Oh, who am I kidding? I can't beat forum members Heads Up. :o

Sounds like fun - looking forward to it. Quertion though - what happens if not exactly 4, 8, 16, etc people sign up?

PShabi 02-17-06 08:49 AM

Don't know, but I'm sure they will just adjust the bracket. Possible first round byes.

Nikita 02-17-06 09:18 AM

I think I might join this. I definitely need HU practice. Anyone got any reading suggestions for improving one's HU game? I don't end up HU very often (and when I do, I get stomped) so I know I suck, would like to get some learning in before I try this.

MAYHEM45 02-17-06 11:38 AM

HOH V2 is pretty good, and gives good examples to help you get a feel.

Nikita 02-17-06 07:07 PM

Perfect, I'm plugging my way through both V1 and 2 right now, maybe I will skip to the HU section.

Talking Poker 02-19-06 01:25 PM

I'm putting a $20 bounty on my head for this tourney, payable to the lucky person who manages to knock me out.

I have no intention of having to pay this bounty.

Good luck, suckers.

kmb13592 02-21-06 04:30 PM

I'm registered. Sorry in advance to anyone who has to play me.

Talking Poker 02-21-06 10:55 PM

Dead money is dead money... it's all good.

PShabi 02-23-06 04:54 PM

We've only got 5 right now, be real nice to see this climb to 10+ before it starts. Where you at?????

Robbie Robb 02-23-06 05:06 PM

DAMN! we were at 6. KMB pulled out. Nikki's gonna try to make it home to play in it.

PShabi 02-23-06 05:11 PM

We'll get some people. I know JD and Zy wanna lose.

JDMcNugent7 02-23-06 05:45 PM

I'm gonna Try to make it. We will see.

Zybomb 02-23-06 06:13 PM

Ditto

Nikita 02-23-06 06:16 PM

Up to 6 again. I'm home in time and registered.

lightfungus 02-23-06 08:02 PM

im in, hope i dont mess things up with the odd number...

bdawg31 02-23-06 08:08 PM

i am in

i put the total to 10

Robbie Robb 02-23-06 08:15 PM

alright, we just need badblood to hop on board and we'll be able to do a final four of WWdN/TP crossover players!!! :D

PShabi 02-23-06 08:24 PM

I don't think it's a problem. If it's odd, there maybe a first round bye for a person or two.

You can create a single-elimination tourney bracket for any # of people. I am the BRACKETMASTER!

GTDawg 02-23-06 08:33 PM

I just won money this afternoon.

I don't want to give you bastards any of it.

kkirk1329 02-23-06 09:00 PM

might play, gametime decision

lightfungus 02-23-06 09:10 PM

That is a problem to me! No one deserves a bye!

PShabi 02-23-06 09:11 PM

Up to 14.

Are Bulldg4life and pokerscout forum members? Dont' recognize the name. Be cool if we could snag a few members out of this.

redbank09 02-23-06 09:12 PM

if they werent before, they are now cause they would have to register to get the password.

lightfungus 02-23-06 09:14 PM

I vouch for bulldog, hes a friend from school. (GTDawg)

GTDawg 02-23-06 09:17 PM

bulldg4life here

BlibbityBlabbity 02-23-06 09:22 PM

ok, we have 16 now., A proper bracket

redbank09 02-23-06 09:25 PM

the anticipation of my death is killing me.

PShabi 02-23-06 09:27 PM

17, and JD isn't even home right now, lol!

Zybomb 02-23-06 09:28 PM

i ruined the perfect 16 bracket..... byes galore now

lightfungus 02-23-06 09:29 PM

ahahhaha, thats a lot of byes. the 4 poor bastards who didnt get them...

PShabi 02-23-06 09:31 PM

Everybody chill and watch the two "play-in" matches! I'm drinking White Zinfandel and smokin' the smokey smoke.

GTDawg 02-23-06 09:31 PM

uh....

whoops?

Nikita 02-23-06 09:54 PM

Well, whoever takes this one down, enjoy my donation. :)

This was definitely -EV for me, but I was going in only to have fun. Mayhem thanks for the good game. And how is it, both Rob and I were the unlucky ones to not get a bye?

PShabi 02-23-06 10:37 PM

GTDawg 02-23-06 10:48 PM

I gotta say...that was the most uncomfortable poker table I've ever been at...

GTDawg 02-23-06 11:27 PM

That was a sick last hand

Talking Poker 02-23-06 11:30 PM

Guess I should have made the bounty $20,000 to make things a bit more interesting, huh?

GGs everyone! That was a lot of fun.

And finally, things are right again in the world: bdawg was the first one out, and I went undefeated. Ahhhhhhhhhh.... I needed that. :D

JDMcNugent7 02-23-06 11:32 PM

Yes, yes it was.

Nice Job TP. way to get a boat vs. boat HU. real hard to win that way.:D lol. U played awesome actually.

are we 1-1 now?

bunny 02-23-06 11:36 PM

I don't believe I played my best game.

Good game to the 4 winners.

Robbie Robb 02-23-06 11:38 PM

Even though I finished 3rd, I'm claiming victory for the following reasons:
1) I sent Bdawg AND Mayhem to the rail
2) I played one more round than everyone else except JD & TP
3) I sent PShabi to the rail in TWO (yes, count 'em, TWO!) hands.
4) I think I had the toughest bracket: Bdawg, Mayhem, Pshabi AND TP!
:D

redbank09 02-23-06 11:44 PM

that def. turned out to be alot of fun. we should hit this up on a monthly basis if we can keep the turout like this.

GTDawg 02-23-06 11:46 PM

I'm just glad I didn't gouge my eyes out watching SpringerStars while betting everything under the sun for 30 minutes.

Robbie Robb 02-23-06 11:48 PM

agreed!

Talking Poker 02-23-06 11:49 PM

Counting our play money match last July when you were a lucky little punk, yes. You're a formidable opponent now.

And yeah, like I said in the other thread, "nice catch" on the river there JD. OH how I love when I have them drawing dead on the turn....... ;)

Talking Poker 02-23-06 11:50 PM

LOL..... Whatever you say, champ!
