Question

I have a question hopefully someone may have an answer to. I am fairly new to real money poker and am having a good time with it so far. I have been playing on Pokerstars Play Money for several months and have maxed out in chips several times only to give millions away so I can play again. I got to thinking however that I could sell all these play money chips to enhance my real money bankroll. Are there any sites where you can sell pokerstars play chips? I don't want to annoy people by asking on pokerstars site as those that have annoyed me are doing. I would appreciate your responses.

HEwong 11-27-05 11:40 AM

yeah teres are some.. if you gove me soem time i can go find one again.. i have it somewhere in my massive list of favortie...lol but h/o give me a bit.. the v=cureetn sellig narate is 13$ a mil.... and to buy chips its 25 $ a mil... but i will bre happy to take a mil off your hands... and you can sell teh rest hehe ;)

JDMcNugent7 11-27-05 01:32 PM

that is how i started out playing poker as well - selling playchips- dont sell to any of the sites- most are scams which is pathetic - but i know a guy who buys them and he is 100% reliable and legit.

Penguinfan 11-27-05 01:36 PM

I hate to ask, but seriously?

JDMcNugent7 11-27-05 01:47 PM

ya- wuts wrong with that? - i was 16 - had no way of depositing - never made a deposit and cashed out 3.5k from $ made from selling playchips.
So I'm sure glad I did it and dont see anything wrong with it- not that i would do it anymore - but for ppl who have never played real money - i think its actually a pretty good way to learn.

nflchad 11-27-05 02:23 PM

I think the real question is who the hell would buy play chips

JDMcNugent7 11-27-05 02:27 PM

now that - i dont understand. wut this guy does with them is unknown to me - but he will buy millions at a time - i guess he re-sells them for more ? but then what that guy does with them? i dn. makes no sense to me.

Ando05 11-27-05 03:23 PM

i was talking to this guy on pokerstars while playing, he said that people sell chips on ebay. but you have to have an ebay account, and it goes around 15 bucks for a million chips. i think its better doing that than getting scammed while trying to sell it on pokerstars.

PS: its one of pokerstars' rules that selling chips is not allowed, so if they know about it youre in trouble

nflchad 11-27-05 03:24 PM

Who the hell buys play chips?

HEwong 11-27-05 03:27 PM

alot of people do...cuz it benifits both side.. the people who get bad beats can tilt in play moeny cheap.. the people who play play money all want real moeny so they sell play chips the sellers buy a mil for about 13$ and resell it for 25$

Ando05 11-27-05 03:27 PM

people that wanna play poker, but dont wanna lose real money go and play the fake money, just for fun. and i am guessing they have a lot in their account so thats why they spend money on fake chips.
i never did it, and i am not looking toward buying play chips, i think the idea is stupid.

PShabi 11-27-05 04:11 PM

They're pretty tough on this bullshit.

I've heard of Play Money accounts being closed and millions of play chips seized!

Look out!

OOOHYEA69 11-27-05 04:23 PM

Pokerstars is clear on their policy about soliciting to sell play chips as far as their rules state. However, in some recent comunication with them via email for something mildly related to selling on their site they told me that they have no firm rule that prohibits someone from selling play chips on their site. Now I for one would never spend cash to buy play chips, but there are many people who do. I have a couple of guys I play cards with that live near me that have made hundreds of dollars selling their play chips which made me even think about this. I'm not trying to take up space with this thing nor am I trying to get an arguement started. I was just curious if anyone knew someone or a site that would buy them. Since asking about this and searching this out on yahoo, I have come to find literally 20 or 30 sites that do this. I know it's crazy, but hell it's their money.

nflchad 11-27-05 04:28 PM

Okay so instead of playing 5-10 play money, people decide to play 2MIL-4MIL or whatever the hell the highest limit is. Maybe I'm way off here but can't you reload your play money chips, uhh for free. I just honestly can't understand why in the flying fuck any one would be so retarded as to purchase fake poker chips. I would feel slightly bad selling them to these obviously mentally ill people.

Ando05 11-27-05 04:33 PM

well when you refill, you get only 1,000 in play chips, people that buy it from you go to the high stakes tables and play 40K or fold, i played it a couple of times and its really fun. but i prefer builing my fake chips in a couple of days to couple hundred grand, rather than spending real money and playing right at that moment.

PS: again those people are loaded, so they dont care about spending a couple of bucks for fake money.

OOOHYEA69 11-27-05 06:53 PM

I know these people are whacked out but I just got $130 for selling 10 million play chips so psycho or not it's still $130. :D

X-Longshot-X 11-27-05 08:03 PM

I once asked a man who was buying play money chips why he bought them, his response was that you dont have to worry about losing when u buy them........all i could think to do from here was laugh.....lol

OOOHYEA69 11-27-05 09:17 PM

He actually said that? OMG! Well any way I have already increased my bank some today so I'm liking that. With some practice I may be able to do some good in Vegas when I'm there in April. That or lose my ass and get extremely drunk. :o

HEwong 11-27-05 09:31 PM

well.... All i know is that buying play chips is stupid and anyone who does is.. gut then again noone who is selling there chips are complaining .. cuz they beniit from it.

jaeh00d 11-28-05 07:22 PM

how is it you go about selling these chips? how is it you would trasfer it from your account to someone elses. I have several million play chips i would not mind getting rid of myself. let me know...please

rookette22 11-28-05 10:13 PM

hmm how much u want for them ......give me a price for them and i'll take them off your hands for u ... lol

no seriously if you're interested in selling let me know the price ....pm me with details ok...

and never ever do business on tables....they revoked my chat once and took away close to 13mill in play chips ....

rookette22 11-28-05 10:15 PM

hmm not if you buy and sell at the right price .....

Ando05 11-28-05 10:54 PM

pokerstars once warned me that they will revoke my chat if they find out i am ever selling chips. i neved did it again of course, but i was just wondering, how long do they revoke your chat.

rookette22 11-28-05 11:52 PM

1 month....was the worse month ever i'll tell you that much

Zybomb 11-28-05 11:57 PM

I just cant imagine why anyone would be willing to shell out even 1 real dollar for any amount of these play chips? It doesnt make sense.... can someone enlighten me?

MAYHEM45 11-29-05 12:12 AM

"Big stakes" play money tables. No need to grind for months to get to a million chips. I would never do it, but I do see the logic.

Hell it's how I got my start, spent 2 nights building up to a million on the crazy ass O8 tables and sold it for the going price back then, $15.

+5k and a video ipod later, and I'm happier than a pig in shit.

rookette22 11-29-05 12:20 AM

hmm ...i don't ever buy play chips to use for myself .... i find that totally absurd; wouldn't waste my real money in that way....

i buy low and sell high...hence the profit making so therefore it's a pretty good business...

i didn't put one cent of my own money in my PS account...i only have that money through making millions of play chips and selling them ....

on the way you find ppl that don't have the clientele to sell to... but yet want to either get into the business or wanting to play the real money tables and are willing to sell for a few dollars a mill....so yeah i'll buy from them...if i don't ....someone else will and they'll make the profit instead of me...

Hope this helps you better understand why ppl, like myself, buy....

Ando05 11-29-05 02:52 AM

K we said it like a thousand times Zybomb that they are loeaded and a dollar or two does not really matter to them really much. when they wanna play just for fun and not serious they ask someone to sell them play chips, i dont know y they just dont go to the .01/.02 table, but they just dont. they go and play the 40K or fold tables. you probably heard of it.

i would never do such a thing, because i rather lose my dollar on a real game than on some chips. hope i kind of explained it to you. this is all i can come up with, because i am not really sure on the real reason either. but the people that buy chips, this is what they usually do with it.

ChipFish 11-29-05 03:41 AM

Would you believe the most amusing thing I found in this thread has absolutely NOTHING to do with buying or selling play chips?

The funniest thing I found is how many people are stating that they have "NEVER" put their own money into online poker...

Someone sold playmoney chips, someone else got a free bankroll somewhere, etc etc etc....

I am proud to say I deposited and lost, deposited and lost, deposited and lost...
When I got tired of losing, I studied the game, Then I studied some more, and I APPLIED the knowledge.

The rest speaks for itself.

Gordogg 11-29-05 03:47 AM

That's exactly the road I went down as well.

Ando05 11-29-05 03:51 AM

well the thing is that the first guy wanted to know if we knew anyone that would be interested in chips. most of us said thats a bad idea because its illegal, and the rest it just lead to this. as you can see one of the guys on this thread actually got busted for it. so we had nothing more to say.

OOOHYEA69 11-29-05 11:16 AM

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK! Wow, sorry for asking in the first place. I am a depositor also and had like 15 million play chips just sitting around. They are gone now so let's just forget I ever asked. Sorry for getting you guys juiced about this. :)

chrisash 11-29-05 11:22 AM

alot of the 500k to 1 mil racers buy alot of fake chips so if you ever see some races going on then you might want to check there too.........Mostly in OMAHA H/L

P.S. I can use a few fake chips if you can spare me some :D

rookette22 11-29-05 11:44 AM

....do you think that makes you better than the rest of us just because you are loaded enough to "deposit".... instead of wise enough to turn those play chips into real money and "deposit" that instead ...

ummm let's see what Donald Trump would say to that....LOL

badblood44 11-29-05 12:01 PM

At first, I could not believe it either. But there it is:

Then I thought about it some more, and liken it to the example of people buying/selling "scarce" items in some online role-playing games. There does exist a demand for the accumulation of virtual items, be it play money chips or Everquest gold.

What people are REALLY paying for is time. Rather than spend time accumulating, it may be far easier and dare I say it, more economical for them to simply purchase the end result from someone who has more time on their hands.

Certainly, it's odd, but it's not that unrealistic for these virtual marketplaces to crop up. With the millions of online players, the demand for something seemingly without value exists on the fringe. Granted, most of us who are playing for real money don't feel the need to participate in that market, but by all means, don't be so surprised by it.

Talking Poker 11-29-05 12:44 PM

This listing (6231393188) has been removed by eBay or is no longer available.

jillaj 11-29-05 12:57 PM

You can't sell play money chips on ebay anymore. It has something to do with a rule about gambling or what not. I think it was about a year ago that they started to enforce this rule cause people had been selling chips on there for a while.

I haven't ever bought any play money chips but have sold a few million. I can understand why someone would buy em too. If you are making lots of money what is 10 dollars for a million or so play chips that you can donk off in any way that you choose. It better to loose those while drunk than a couple hundred in a real game.

ChipFish 11-29-05 01:00 PM

No... doesn't make me better. [Although I'd be happy to play you ;)]

Yes... Trump would like it.

badblood44 11-29-05 01:06 PM

Wow, that was quick....

FYI, it had one bidder for $20 while it was up there.

ChipFish 11-29-05 01:42 PM

So Did I win? :)
