Nominations for Poster of 2008...

I know who I think it is, and I know who I think is a very close second. In fact, it might be a freaking tie.

But I want to know who you guys think it is.

Nominations, please. Feel free to nominate as many people as you like including people who have already been nominated.

And yes, I realize we are only 45 days into 2008, but I don't care. It's random loyalty reward time.

Zy is the bomb

Zy all the way.

FOR helping my game the most from his poker analysis. Which is why I am here so I have to vote KURN. then MEL.:twocents:

For most bitching for the month of feb I nominate TP:(

Talking Poker 02-15-08 06:55 PM

If you are reading this and haven't posted in this thread, post. There are no wrong answers. Tell me what you think.

Even if you are a lurker who has only ever made a couple of posts, you should know who's posts/threads you enjoy reading the most. So take 5 seconds and type their name in this thread.

Zybomb 02-15-08 07:01 PM

storm for out of the box thinking posts

BlibbityBlabbity 02-15-08 08:40 PM

Invig for both poker commentary and for organizing some of the events lately.

Invigilator 02-15-08 09:30 PM

After some actual thought, I would go with Storm and Melioris. They always have that angle that has not occurred to me.

Reel Deal 02-15-08 10:37 PM

I'd have a hard time picking between Zy, Kurn, mel and BL... although the trip reports from the NHL tour might tilt it to BL.

Robbie Robb 02-16-08 12:03 AM

Zybomb

Nikita 02-16-08 12:29 AM

I agree with every name mentioned so far.

Talking Poker 02-18-08 01:24 AM

Any more? Last chance.

drewjax 02-18-08 05:24 AM

Id say Zy

followed closely by

BL
and
mel

Talking Poker 02-18-08 02:22 PM

Final tally of names that were (seriously) mentioned in this thread, regardless of nominators' rankings:

Melioris - 7
The Storm - 5
Zybomb - 5
Kurn - 3
Invigilator - 1
BlibbityBlabbity - 1

So, here is what you each won... well, sort of. Be sure to read the fine print below. :) Also, even though no one mentioned his name, I'm adding Reel Deal ot this list for starting some really great threads recently (TP Quotes, Dream table, etc). Each and every one of you is a valuable part of this community, so here's what's you've "won":

Melioris - $100
The Storm - $50
Zybomb - $50
Kurn - $20
Invigilator - $10
BlibbityBlabbity - $10
Reel Deal - $10

That's a total of $250 up for grabs.

The Fine Print: You haven't actually won this money yet. What you won was a SHOT at winning this money. You need to play me Heads Up for it at Full Tilt (and the juice is on each of us, respectively). Basically, if you lose, you're even steven minus the juice, but if you win, woohoo - free money!

Two way we can do this:

1. We each buy in with our own money and play. If I win, I send you your money back ($100, $50, $20 or $10). If you win, congrats - we're square.

2. I ship (loan) you the money first, but we MUST play. If I win, GG - we're square. If you win, you ship me my the loan back but can keep what you won.

I'd prefer Option #1 because it's a lot simpler, but I will do Option #2 if anyone needs me to - like, if you don't have enough money on Full Tilt or something.

So, that's 7 HU matches I'll be playing with you guys at some point, assuming you want a shot at free money and don't mind risking losing ONLY the 5% juice if you lose. I will try to be as accomodating as possible in scheduling these with you guys, so let me know when works best for you. Post here, PM, whatever. When we settle on a time, we'll post it here for everyone to see.

For the actual match registration, we'll do it in the ChatBox. When we are both ready, I'll sit first and then you join me (just in case someone beats you, I'll be the one to get stuck playing them).

Hopefully people will rail the matches and root for you guys. I predict I go no better than 3-4 with these, but you never know... maybe I'll pull off the miracle 7-0 (or the embarassing 0-7). Schnikes!

Thanks again to everyone who takes part in this forum, but especially to the people who have gone above and beyond enough to be nominated in this thread.

CalifNaughti 02-18-08 02:46 PM

I'd like to nominate Invig. Every post of his is, is something I learn from. :)

Talking Poker 02-18-08 03:50 PM

Too late (see above)... thanks though.

Invigilator 02-18-08 03:50 PM

TP, this is very cool, and I'd say so even if I had not been nominated.

I am definitely down for this. I'd say this Wednesday night aournd league time would be good for me.

melioris 02-18-08 04:26 PM

thanks TP and thanks everyone who thought of me. Although it really shouldn't (I have never met any of you), it actually feels nice to be well regarded around here.

Ok, so TP, maybe tomorrow night (9:35 pm EST) we can set up a HU match at micro-stakes HU SNG (minimize the rake and any problems if someone else jumps in), or are you going to set up a private HU tournament for the two of us? I will have to check my schedule later in the day tomorrow before I can fully commit.

Invigilator 02-18-08 08:18 PM

Thanks to Calif and Blib for the nominations. Everyone brings something different to the table, and like Mel said, it's nice to know there are those who hold you in good regard.

:h:feel the love, cash the dough:twocents:

Talking Poker 02-23-08 05:53 PM

Sunday should work for me. Kurn mentioned it too. If not, let's shoot for Tuesday night.

Talking Poker 02-24-08 09:24 PM

Hoping to play Kurn/Zy tonight too.

Kurn 02-24-08 09:31 PM

I'm ready. Do I get to pick the game?

Zybomb 02-24-08 09:36 PM

I can play if you see this in the next few minutes... respond here or in the chatbox

Talking Poker 02-25-08 11:01 PM

. The dealer was obviously Kurn's sister or something.

Kurn 02-25-08 11:03 PM

I need to go to and see how you say "Card Rack" in Klingon.;)

Certainly got AA at precisely the right time.

Final tally: 5-2
Total cost: $70 (and a bunch of juice)

Thanks again everyone for being a part of this forum. We'll definitely have to do something like this again...

Reel Deal 02-26-08 11:09 PM

No, thank you TP. Very cool of you to do this. Just wish our match-up would have lasted for more than 6 hands!

Kurn 02-27-08 09:09 AM

I second the motion. Another reason why this is the best poker forum out there.
