League?
The last discussion of a league kind of died out on the note "some time in the future".
Now that the fall is upon us (at least in North America. I am not sure how that works elsewhere), would it be a good time to start up? |
I definitely want to get another league going too. They are always fun. I've even thought of putting a schedule together, but I procrastinate far too much. I'm definitely not willing to keep score, but maybe Robbie can if Blib isn't around, he's been keeping score for our own home league.
We already have the rules in place, the ones for the last league games will carry over fine. Only other thing missing is players. But I think once a schedule is posted, we might see more people putting their money in for the league. |
Having joined AFTER the last time a league was done here, I guess the thing I am most curious about is how it is set up with the site.
I am 200 FPP's short of requesting tournaments Stars (I think you need 2000 right?), because I moved on over to Tilt. I would also be willing to do the score keeping if there is an established system. I have really enjoyed the few forum/Raistlin tournaments that I have played and am looking forward to more! |
I am around and regularly checking the forum lately, so I can keep score for this one too.
I would like to see more people in each of the events this time. Not sure how we make this happen, but the 4-15 player events (mostly toward the smaller numbers) shouldn't be the standard. For those who have not played in previous ones, what would make you play in more/some of the events this time? I liked the variety of events as we did last time, the mix seemed pretty balanced for NLHE and other varieties. |
Yeah, once you've earned enough FPPs, which I think you're right, it is 2000, you can email Stars support and they will give you access to creating private tourneys.
There's a bunch of us here with enough to create the tourneys though, so that shouldn't be a problem. As for getting enough people to play, it's always been a bit of an issue. Some games had a good turn out and some didn't. For myself, the only time I won't be playing in the league games is if I'm scheduled to work. |
With my schedule I'm probably going to be sitting this league out unfortunately...
Stupid work schedule...grr |

I think a lower buy-in would get more players to play more events.

I was just checking out the old thread of the Talking Poker league...
It looks really fun, I hope this works out, I'll definitely be part of it |
I'd really like to get a league up and running again too. I'd like there to be more interest than there was last itme, but I fear there may be less.
Suggestions/ideas: -Make all tourneys $5+.50 entry (that is the new minimum, I believe), with possible one or two exceptions (first tourney and/or last tourney). -Lower, $10 entry fee for the league prize pool? -Have either one game per week (say, every Wednesday night, for example), or if we do 2 per week, shorten the league duration? I'm not sure what else. Mixed games are cool, but we should have at least half straight NLHE. I'd like a confirmed interest list of at least 20 people before we get this going. So far, I see maybe 7 (myself included) in this thread. |
I would probably play.
|
Yes, bunny, it's my son Alex. He's definitely a cutie and so far he's quite the flirt too. He knows how to make a girl smile and play with him.
|
I'd be down with those details. I am thinking once a week would be good. I'll try to talk Oceanwaves into it, but "America's Next Top Model" is on that night.
|
That's an important skill. Sadly, most of us lose that power between the ages of 8 and 12.
|
I'm interested for sure. I'd be able to squeeze in a game once a week - sometimes twice a week. We have a new guy at work that I can probably get in here as well.
Also - what about hosting the games at Full Tilt? We get RB there - we should all have accounts there... I can't remember the last time I played on stars... |
Lower buy-in & league fee, once a week games plus playing on FT...I'm in! |
Im in!
Lets do it! I love TP league, but lets stay at PS, im unable to put any money on FT.
|
Stars, ftw.
FTP sucks big juicy nuts. |
but...but...
there's RB and Shabi at FTP. |
Bunny sure loves herself some Shabi!!:D
Seriously though, how much rakeback are we gonna get on $5.50 tourneys? |
Side note: So who checked bunny's last post for hidden text? With that big space in the middle, I couldn't resist. ;)
|
LOL

Raises hand...

$.50 * .27 = 13.5 cents. I'm a genius!
And yeah, I checked her post too. |
so?
Are we going to do it?
|
I'm in.
I can set up private tournaments, (as can others, I'm sure), so let me know you need me in that regard. |
FTP sounds good to me.
So, are we just waiting for some to say "I'll st it up"? or does would that go to TP or an adminstrator (tradtionally)? BIG EDIT: PERSONALITY HIJACK! I sat down on Oceanwaves computer and forgot where I was. This is the voice of Invigilator possessing a hapless pawn. Sorry honey. |
im in
was up boys
|
Hi jony, welcome to the forum.
|
so?
So? Are we going to do it?
|
It didn't seem to be happening here, so I joined one elsewhere.
|
So basically, in order for a league to happen (here), I have to set it up...?
I guess I don't understand why that has to be the case... Why couldn't you (or anyone else who posted interest in this thread) come up with a schedule and set it up? The reason I didn't do this myself, btw, is because it seems like we only had 10 or so people interested, and I don't think that's enough for a fun league. I think we need 20 or so to at least show interest for it to be worth doing. |
I see your point sir. I'd still be interested in doing this even it ended up being a one table weekly tournament. It's a nice chance to play with people who I know actually think about the game.
To this end, I am willing to set it up. I am sure I can do this on FT (I believe any real money account person can request private tournaments). Stars is a problem though. I stopped playing regularly there before I crossed the 2000 FPP threshold needed to set it up. I am certain that a solution to this would present itself as things unfold. Would anyone object to me running with this right now? If not, I would begin to gather current information about current interest, such as buy-in, site, game types, night of the week, starting time, etc. (as this thread is getting older). |
If the games end up on FT, I won't be able to play. I don't plan on depositing any money on there. As for setting up Stars tournies, if you create the schedule I'd be happy to set them up.
|
This was one of the reasons I didn't believe this *league* was ever going to happen. Seems what few players (members) we do have, there is still no agreement as to where these tournaments will take place.
If you really want this to happen, create a poll and have the members who are interested in the league vote. The outcome of the poll decides. I would invite you in the league I'm already in, but wouldn't be a nice thing to do to TP. Add UB to the list. I'm sick of playing on FT & Stars. |
bad idea. Stars ftw, and im in.
|
I'd love for you to "run with this." Hammer out some more details, propose a schedule, etc, etc... once you have some commitments from people, I'll make an official thread and we'll see how it goes. Take a look at the old league(s) for some ideas, plus the suggestions already posted in this thread.
As for where to play, since there are mixed opinions, how about having games on multiple sites? Also, if Player A has money on Stars and not Tilt and Player B has the opposite, I see no reason why they couldn't swap a buy in or two and then everyone is happy, right? I'll probably even make an exception to my own personal rule and help trusted members move money around if they need me to. |
Bitchin'! I'm on it.
|
Glancing through this thread, I'm left with one question:
BlibbityBlabbity, bunny, Ando05, drewjax, de-coder, murkosk, Aequitas58, jony_chan27, and eejit101: Why are none of you signed up for the yet? That's NINE people who either said they definitely would or expressed interest, so I'd hope that most of you will sign up. (Yes, de-coder, I know you're all but signed up, but a longer list here makes a better point) |
I will likely be down for this as well but i want to make sure ill be around for the majority of the events before saying im in and leaving hole in every event. Ill get back
