idea for a tourney
 

Heads up tournement with people from the forum, a bracket kind of thing, i think this would be a fun way to have a tournement. I think some1 might have mentioned this before jw if anyone would want to do it.

Yeah, I think a "month" contest would be cool like this. I mentioned a few days ago that I thought doing it at a free site would be best (Bugsy's has free heads up matches that are pretty easy to get into with someone else - and if you don't you just try again). Also, free would let everyone play that wants to.

Format like the NBC one...

We could just pair people off and as long as everyone plays the same site (same format) you figure out when you both can play, post the time (for railbirds) and after the match post the results (like the June contest).

I'm game for July or August. August would give us time to figure out the details

this would be a really cool contest, all i know is first round i call heads up with pshabi :eek:

August would also allow ME to play. And win.

In HU news, I think this is a cool idea too and would definitely be up for it. Hell, I'll even kick in some cash for the winner (me) to make things more interesting.

Stars lets me set up Heads Up Private tourneys, but it's not free and would require everyone to be available to play at the same time. And we know how crappy that usually works out.

If you guys are serious about this, let's plan it for August. I have a whole pile of promotions running through my head for July. I'm going to be in Vegas and somewhat off the board for the first half of the month, but I want this place to be busier when I get back than when I leave...... in other words, we need some new members and more posting from the current group. Stay tuned......

what we could do is randomly assign brackets for all those who respond as interested in participating..... that way, whoever is scheduled to face each other can set up a time when its good for both of them and then TP can set it up..... we can do it one round at a time until a winner is crowned

I think this is a teriffic idea and the first good think Kirk has brought to this forum.....props

in addition it will also allow people to improve their heads up play (and i know EVERYONE can use some HU improvement)

The only problem is Stars won't let me set up HU matches (for just 2 people). so we'll need to find a place to do it.... I'll leave that up to the rest of you smart folks...

Like I said, Bugsy's (PokerPages) has free ones. They have a VERY good structure (10,000 chips to start, etc, etc). That is the best place I personnaly have seen (stable software, good structure, etc.).

Very few places have them, and most others that do either have more traffic (so it would be harded to sneak into the same match) or their software/structure sucks.

I wonder if TP inquired with any of the hungrier sites (True, Noble, etc) and said, "Hi, I represent a forum with about 20 or so hardcore online poker players, and we're looking for a site to host an event for us ..." Hell, I bet they'd even make it a freeroll for us and kick in prize money from their own pocket.

The Prima sites do have multitable heads up tourneys available...like 16 player tourneys for like 10 or 20 dollar buy in. or we can just have individual heads up tourneys and post here

Well, I can set that up on Stars. I think we were trying to find a good place to set up the individual matches.

Right now, it sounds like Bugsy Club is worth consideration:

this is one contest im actully very interested in.

this was actully a idea that was brought up before but no-one ran with it, Im fine either way we do it but I think the one day HU one no good, I like the month long one more drama that way. Single elim or double?

on a side note kirk and pshabi fued sounds very familer to another fued that used to go on here. I cant place the 2 people that had a ongoing arguement but I remember 2 old posters yelling at eachother alot until one of the 2 members reliezed the other guy was just trying to help him. Alot of run-ons there sorry little hard to read but im very tired.

Final? Yeah right... I won't get past Round 1!

I know. You just recently mentioned it, but I think before that Blibbity said something about it - maybe 2 weeks ago. When I said it, I was a LONG time ago ... and I think it was one of my ideas coming out of the TP v. Aeq heads up match.
